Bulk NPI lookup

Bulk NPI lookup for provider spreadsheets.

Bulk NPI lookup is the operational version of NPI search: instead of checking one provider at a time, you upload a file and resolve many provider or organization rows into review-ready NPI results.

Search answer

Quick answer

Bulk NPI lookup lets teams process provider lists, referral rosters, claims files, and CRM exports at spreadsheet scale. NPI Finder adds entity resolution on top of lookup by verifying candidates, grading confidence, and exporting evidence with the matched NPI.

Input

CSV provider rows

Scale

Up to 50,000 rows

Output

CSV with evidence

Useful for
Analysts replacing manual NPPES searches
Billing teams cleaning claims spreadsheets
Directory teams validating many providers at once
CRM teams enriching healthcare accounts and contacts

Batch workflow

A bulk lookup should still be reviewable.

Speed matters, but a large file full of unexplained identifiers creates a new review problem. Bulk NPI results are more useful when each completed row includes confidence and evidence.

  • Upload a CSV with one provider or organization per row.
  • Map whatever columns you have instead of forcing a fixed template.
  • Export matched NPIs joined to the original columns.

Lookup plus resolution

Scale does not remove ambiguity.

A batch can contain nicknames, DBAs, missing ZIP codes, stale phone numbers, and organizations with multiple NPIs. Bulk lookup works best when it includes safeguards for ambiguous rows.

  • Run NPPES-first searches for registry-backed candidates.
  • Use web evidence when the registry cannot see a brand or misspelling.
  • Rerun low-confidence rows after review.

Workflow

A defensible match has a trail.

01

Upload the CSV

Start with provider names, organization names, addresses, cities, states, ZIPs, phones, specialties, or known NPI hints.

02

Map columns

Tell the resolver which columns carry entity, location, and contact signals.

03

Run selected rows

Process all rows, remaining rows, low-confidence rows, failures, or a selected subset.

04

Export results

Download a CSV with original data, matched NPI, confidence, reasoning, candidates, and source URLs.

Better decision criteria

What separates lookup from resolution.

Signal
Weak approach
NPI Finder approach
Manual NPPES
One search at a time, with copy-paste review.
Rows resolve in a grid and export back to CSV.
Simple batch lookup
Returns identifiers with little context.
Adds confidence, reasoning, candidates, and sources.
Cost control
Hard to estimate analyst time for a messy file.
$1 per completed row run, with first five rows free.

Common questions

Yes. NPI Finder accepts CSV provider and organization rows, lets you map columns, runs NPPES-first resolution, and exports matched NPI results.
Uploaded tables can contain up to 50,000 rows. Large files should still be reviewed in manageable passes for cost and quality control.
Bulk lookup is the batch workflow. NPI entity resolution is the matching logic that decides which NPI actually belongs to each row and explains the evidence.
